In September 2002, "Wendy School Band" was formed at Muyu
Elementary School in Shennongjia, Hubei. The school purchased some
Chinese musical instruments such as lutes, urheens, flutes, suona
horns and yu-kins, so for the first time students have an opportunity
to take music lessons. This is all made possible by the donation of
Ms. Wendy Tam from United States, whose contribution enriches students’
academic life and brought a lot of joy for the children. The music
teacher is from Shuiguohu Elementary School in Wuhan, who is working
on a volunteer contract to help the country school’s music education.
The Wendy School Band collects and performs local folk songs. The
pictures show students in band practice guided by the volunteer of
Shuiguohu Elementary School.
